Microsoft Wireless Networking Key Disappears

Why is it that sometimes when I disconnect from an wireless access point and then try to reconnect the key that is supposed to be saved disappears?

I've had this happen many times, and I usually will close the window with the empty key fields and try to connect again and the key with bullets * reappears.

It seems that this is a bug, but I'm not sure. So I am doing some research to see what this is about. I have the latest service packs.

I have had this happen on various access points, and have tried to remove and readd.

Today I noticed that my connection was down to 1mb but the signal was strong. so I disconnected and reconnected and that is when I said, there must be something wrong.
